Food & Nutrition
At Kent House Day Nursery, we believe that providing healthy, balanced meals is key to supporting your child’s growth, development, and overall well-being. We take pride in offering freshly prepared, nutritious meals on-site, ensuring that fresh fruits and vegetables are a central part of our daily menu. We avoid processed foods and always encourage children to drink water and milk, unless otherwise instructed by parents or carers. We cater to vegetarians and a variety of dietary requirements to ensure that every child receives the nutrition they need.
Our Approach to Nutrition
We understand the importance of finding the right balance between variety and consistency. Our menus are carefully designed to introduce children to a wide range of tastes and textures, while also providing familiar favourites that make them feel comfortable and secure at mealtimes. By offering a balanced mix of proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, we aim to nurture healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.
All of our staff are trained in food allergy awareness, paediatric first aid, and Food and Safety standards. This ensures that we are fully prepared to handle any dietary needs or restrictions, keeping your child safe and well-nourished. We also work closely with parents to make sure any specific dietary preferences or requirements are met.
Following the EatSafe Campaign
At Kent House Day Nursery, we proudly follow the EatSafe campaign, a programme designed to promote safe, age-appropriate eating habits for children. The campaign, spearheaded by Kent Safeguarding Children Multi-Agency Partnership, focuses on creating a safe eating environment for children and teaching healthy habits from a young age.
The EatSafe campaign is highly adaptable to the age and developmental stage of each child, allowing us to tailor our approach based on where they are in their eating journey. Whether your child is just starting to explore solid foods, is mastering self-feeding, or is confidently eating a full range of meals, we ensure that they receive the right support.
This includes managing portion sizes, promoting healthy chewing and swallowing practices, and creating a positive mealtime atmosphere that encourages children to enjoy food and develop their independence.
