What kind of activities and learning opportunities are available at Kent House Day Nursery?
At Kent House Day Nursery, we provide a diverse range of activities to support each child’s growth and learning. Our daily program includes creative arts and crafts, sensory play, outdoor exploration, music and dance, and early literacy activities—all designed to foster social skills, confidence, and a love for learning. How does Kent House Day Nursery ensure a safe environment for children?
Safety is our top priority. Our staff are trained in safeguarding, paediatric first aid, food safety, and health and safety practices. We also conduct regular risk assessments, follow fire safety protocols, and maintain a secure setting for all indoor and outdoor activities.
How are meals and snacks managed at the nursery?
We provide freshly prepared, balanced meals and snacks each day. Our menu incorporates a variety of fruits, vegetables, and nutritious options, and we cater to dietary needs or allergies. Water is always accessible, and children are encouraged to stay hydrated throughout the day.
How does the nursery support children’s transition to primary school?
We focus on building confidence, independence, and key social skills to ease each child’s transition to school. Through age-appropriate learning activities, structured routines, and a supportive environment, we help children feel ready for their next big step.
How do you communicate with parents about their child’s progress?
We believe in open, ongoing communication with parents. Our team provides regular updates on your child’s learning and development, shares observations, and holds parent meetings to discuss progress. We’re always available to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you may have.
What is the settling-in process for new children?
We offer a gradual settling-in process tailored to each child’s needs. This includes shorter introductory sessions to help them get comfortable with our staff, other children, and the nursery environment. Parents are welcome to stay during these initial sessions for added reassurance.
What consumables does the nursery provide, and what should parents send with their child?
At Kent House Day Nursery, we provide all meals, snacks, drinks, and educational materials for the children. The only items we ask parents to provide are nappies, wipes, medicines (such as Calpol, Nurofen, or teething gel), and extra clothing for your child. This ensures that each child’s personal needs are met while keeping them comfortable and happy throughout the day.
How do you keep parents informed about their child’s day?
We provide each parent with a detailed daily diary, which includes information on all meals and snacks, the amount eaten, nap times, activities, and nappy changes throughout the day. Additionally, at handover, we give parents a personal rundown of their child’s day and are happy to answer any questions.
